(10-15-25) The Mercer County Commissioners have appointed Dr. James Reichert as acting county coroner following the October 10th resignation of longtime coroner Dr. Timothy Heinrichs.
Reichert has served as the Mercer County Deputy Coroner for 16 years and is the Chief of Surgery at Grand Lake Health System and is general surgeon and Medical Director for the Center for Healthy Weight & Wellness at Mercer Health..
The Mercer County Republican Party Central Committee will now appoint a permanent coroner within 45 days. Because the vacancy occurred more than 40 days before the next general election, the unexpired term will appear on the 2026 ballot.
