Kyle Poplaski

(10-9-25) Kyle Poplaski (33) of Celina who appeared in Mercer County Common Pleas Court for sentencing on Wednesday attempted to escape Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputies.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident took place after Judge Matt Fox remanded Kyle Poplaski (33) to the custody of deputies following his sentencing on charges related to a prior fleeing and eluding case. When a deputy approached to handcuff him, Poplaski allegedly pushed away, ran from the courtroom on the third floor, and shoved a woman in the hallway as he fled.

Sheriff’s Deputies radioed for assistance. A Deputy on the first floor of the courthouse attempted to stop Poplaski using a Taser, but only one probe made contact and that allowied Poplaski to continue.

Deputies outside deployed a second Taser subduing Poplaski. He was taken into custody and transported to the Mercer County Adult Detention Center.

Poplaski experienced seizure-like activity on the way to the Detention Center. Deputies took him to Mercer Health in Coldwater for evaluation. He was treated and released and then booked into the Mercer County Adult Detention Center.

He was booked today on a 4th degree felony of a probation/parole violation.

The Sheriff’s Office is working with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office to determine additional charges.

No serious injuries were reported during the incident.
