In Ohio, a second-degree misdemeanor for Obstructing Official Business occurs when a person intentionally impedes a public official’s lawful duties without privilege, creating no risk of physical harm. Penalties typically include up to 90 days in jail and a maximum $750 fine. However, the offense escalates to a fifth-degree felony if the actions create a risk of physical harm, punishable by up to 12 months in jail and fines up to $2,500.
