Shawnee Township – On October 4, 2025, at approximately 12:27 P.M., the Lima Post of The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 75, near Breese Rd in Shawnee Township, Allen County.

Travontay Hooks-Sanders (29) from Greer, South Carolina, was operating a 2016 Jeep Renegade northbound on I-75. Keith Hughes was in a disabled 2022 Freightliner Cascadia semi on the right berm of I-75. The Jeep Renegade drove on to the berm and struck the rear of the disabled semi.

Derek Robinson (29) from Southfield, Michigan was a passenger in the Jeep Renegade. Hooks-Sanders and Robinson both suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. They were both transported by Allen Mortuary Services to the Lucas County Morgue. Hughes was not injured.

The Jeep sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene by Miller Auto. The Freightliner sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Miller Auto.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on-scene by Shawnee Township Fire, Shawnee Township EMS, Perry Township EMS, Perry Township Fire, Lima EMS, The Allen County Coroner’s Office, The Ohio Department of Transportation, Allen Mortuary Services, and Miller Auto.

The crash remains under investigation.
