| An Update from State Senator Susan Manchester September 2025 September was an exciting month of connection and celebration across our communities, reinforcing just how much talent, creativity, and commitment exists within our district. I am reminded why supporting families, growing local businesses, and strengthening our communities is at the heart of everything we do in the Senate. These experiences continue to guide my work in Columbus, and I’m looking forward to bringing these ideas back with me as we get back into the rhythm of the legislative session. As September came to a close, so did the legislature’s summer recess—marking the official start of the fall legislative session. I’m glad to be back at the Statehouse, returning to the important work of committee hearings and full Senate sessions. The fall legislative session started with momentum as Senator Liston and I had the opportunity to provide sponsor testimony on Senate Bill 207 in the Senate Financial Institutions, Insurance and Technology Committee. This legislation seeks to ensure that any third-party contribution for prescription medications counts towards meeting deductibles and out-of-pocket costs. This measure protects patients from unfair insurance practices, lowering overall medical costs. It was also wonderful to spend time with FFA students from Botkins, Urbana, Minster, Anna, New Bremen, and St. Marys while they were in Columbus. I always enjoy meeting folks from our district when they’re in the area- it was a great chance to hear their perspectives and answer their questions about agriculture policy, and connect them to the work happening at the Statehouse. Senator Manchester with Minster FFA students Senator Manchester at the ribbon cutting for the new Lake Loramie Welcome Center September was full of opportunities to connect with the people and organizations that make our district thrive. I enjoyed attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony to open Lake Loramie’s new Welcome Center, visiting Camp Wilson in Logan County, and touring several local organizations and businesses. Along the way, I had meaningful conversations about education, workforce development, and local economic growth. These discussions provide insight to my work back in Columbus.
