
(9-24-25) The Adams Central Community Schools School Board (ACCS) announces that Mr. Aaron McClure has been selected as the new ACCS Superintendent, starting on January 1, 2026, pending approval at their next board meeting in October.
Following an extensive search for the next superintendent that included collecting input from the community and staff, the Board believes Mr. McClure is the right person to lead Adams Central and serve as the district’s new superintendent.
With over 28 years of experience in public education, Mr. Mclure is a native of Adams County and a graduate of Adams Central.
“Mr. McClure’s dedication to student success, proven leadership skills, and deep appreciation of our school’s culture led us to this decision.”
McClure who has been the Jets boys basketball coach will give up his coaching and teaching duties to take over the superintendent position.
Per Indiana Code, Mr. McClure’s proposed contract will be available for public review on the district’s website, and the required public meeting is scheduled for the next board meeting on October 14. A complete transition timeline will be shared following the official vote to approve the slated candidate.
Adams Central Community Schools Superintendent Joel Mahaffey resigned in April 2025 following misdemeanor operating while intoxicated (OWI) charges, though the school board initially voted to keep him in his position. His resignation was accepted by the board, and he remained with the district in a consulting role until the end of the school year, while a search for a permanent replacement began. In September 2025.
