
(9-1-25) Booked by the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office on two counts of drug possession was Ashley McCarthy (42) of Van Wert.

The charge: A fourth-degree felony
Under ORC 2925.11(C)(6)(b), if the amount of heroin possessed is equal to or greater than 1 gram but less than 5 grams, the offense is a felony of the fourth degree. This can also be defined as possessing between 10 and 50 “unit doses”

She is being held in the Van Wert County Jail.

May 2021 – Ashley McCarthy, 38, of Van Wert, admitted violating her probation by refusing treatment at the WORTH Center. She was sentenced to 180 days in jail for each of two previous drug charges, to be served consecutively, and was given credit for 111 days already served, for a net jail term of 249 days.
