UPDATED: 9-2-25—

The driver of the golf cart was identified as Sophie Bowman (13) occupants Mckhell Benedict (5) and Paige Wray (10) were all three treated and released from the scene.  The deceased passenger was identified as Sayla Wray (4).

(8-30-25) On August 30, 2025, Darke County Deputies, along with Union City Fire, Union City Rescue, and Union City Police Department, responded to the 500 block of Converse Road regarding a golf cart injury crash.

Preliminary investigation revealed that four juveniles were traveling in a golf cart on the roadway when it veered off the right side and overturned. All four occupants were ejected during the crash.

CareFlight transported one juvenile, while the other three were treated at the scene and released to their families.

The juvenile passed away due to injuries and was pronounced deceased.

This incident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
