Midwest design firm clinches second SMPS M Award of Excellence

MINSTER, Ohio Garmann Miller’s marketing team was the recipient of the M Award of Excellence presented by the Society of Marketing Professional Services at its national Amplify AEC conference. Creative Leader Jamee Thobe, Client Experience Director Kristi Shaner, and Marketing Director Doug Rentz accepted the award for Trade Show Marketing at the society’s Marketing Communications Awards ceremony in Columbus, Ohio, Aug. 7.

Now in its 48th year, the annual MCA Awards competition is the longest-standing awards program recognizing excellence by professional services firms in the architecture, engineering and construction industry. GM’s winning entry was its trade show campaign for the Indiana and Ohio School Boards Association conferences, during which it executed an interactive plan of on-site experiences and multi-media communications.

Garmann Miller annually debuts a new theme for its 30-foot trade-show booth. The display is part of an overall brand strategy to convey GM’s culture, provide a memorable experience to attendees, and create more conversations on the show floor. 

New this year was a philanthropic sock drive held at OSBA and GM’s offices that earned over 550 pairs of new socks. Items were donated to Woodville, Ohio-based Hannah’s Socks, a nonprofit organization serving communities throughout the state. 

The firm earned its first M Award of Excellence from SMPS in 2023.
