Union City, Ohio (8-12-25) — The Union City Police Department announces the conviction of Kevin Smith, age 59, of Union City, Ohio, in the Darke County Common Pleas Court.
Smith was arrested by officers of the Union City Police Department on November 8, 2024, following an investigation into the rape of multiple victims under the age of 13 at the time of the incidents. During subsequent interviews, Smith admitted to the crimes.
On August 12, 2025, Smith was convicted of four counts of rape and sentenced by the Honorable Judge Travis Fliehman to 16 years in the Ohio Department of Corrections.
The Union City Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to the Darke County Prosecutor’s Office for their diligent work in bringing this case to trial and ensuring justice for the victims.
“The Union City Police Department is committed to working tirelessly on cases like this to ensure justice is served for victims of these heinous crimes,” said officials with the department. “No child should ever endure such abuse, and we will continue to pursue offenders to the fullest extent of the law.”
