(8-10-25) On August 10, 2025 at approximately 3:00 a.m. Darke County Deputies, Arcanum Rescue, and Pitsburg Fire Department were dispatched to the 9900 block of Castine Gordon Road, Laura, in reference to a crash with unknown injuries. Upon Deputies arrival, the vehicle was unoccupied. The driver was located a short time later in a corn field.

Preliminary investigation revealed a red 2014 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling east on Castine Gordon Road, east of State Route 49. The Cruze traveled across the center line and struck a ditch culvert before traveling to the other side of the roadway and struck a utility pole before coming to rest.

The driver of the Cruze was identified as Jacob Hobbs (36) of West Milton. Hobbs was transported to Wayne Healthcare for suspected minor injuries. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.
