(8-4-25) Two Mercer County motorcycle injury crashes took place this past weekend.

The first crash took place just before 5 pm in the 6000 block of State Route 274. A motorcycle driven by Franklin Ludwig (50) and his wife, who was a passenger, Tina Ludwig (49) both from SIdney. The Ludwings were ejected from their cycle after striking a deer. Both Ludwings were seriously injured and were air lifted to Miami Valley Hospital.

This incident remains under investigation by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputies.

At around 6 pm west of Coldwater on State Route 219 and Gause Road when a motocycle was rear ended. Mathias Mera (47) of Dayton and his passenger, Ashlee Merta (47) of Dayton were preparing to turn into a driveway when they were rear ended by Donald Dues (85) of Celina. Dues’ vehicle continued into a near by yard where it flipped onto its side.

The Mertas were airlifted to Dayton’s Miami Valley Hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries. Dues was taken to Mercer Health for treatment. His condition was not known.
