(7-21-25) On Saturday the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Deputies made two strangulation arrests.

7:02 pm Deputies responded to a residence on Williams Street in the Village of Willshire for a report of domestic violence. Kyle W. Coble, age 40 of Willshire, was transported to the Van Wert County Correctional Facility, charged with Fourth-Degree Felony Strangulation and First-Degree Misdemeanor Domestic Violence.
3:49 am Deputies responded to a residence on West Wood Street in the Village of Middle Point for a report of domestic violence. Colin Emanuel Ganger, age 25, of Middle Point, was transported to the Van Wert County Correctional Facility, charged with Fourth-Degree Felony Strangulation and First-Degree Misdemeanor Domestic Violence.
In Ohio…Strangulation Felony of the fourth or fifth degree: Causing or creating a substantial risk of physical harm.
Additionally, strangulation charges may be elevated to felonies of the fourth degree if:
- The offender has a prior domestic violence conviction against the victim.
- The victim was pregnant at the time of the offense.

- Imprisonment: 6 to 18 months
- Fines: Up to $5,000
