(7-20-25) The Mercer County Democrats look to be focusing on the upcoming City of Celina elections.

Three current Celina Republican council members decided not to run for re-election this time around and that opened the door wide for local Democrats to make a push to take over.

  • Ward 1, Democrat Bill Sell and Republican Steve Schulte
  • Ward 2, Republican Jeremy Uhlenhake
  • Ward 3, Republican Chris Dosek and Democrat Erica Lusk
  • Ward 4, Republican Eric Clausen and Independent Kyle Bruce
  • Celina City Council President, Republican Jason King and Democrat Sophia Rodriguez.
  • Celina City Treasurer, Independent Deb Sneddon and Independent Tyler Foulkes

Ward 2 is the only secure Republican seat with Jeremy Uhlenhake running unopposed.

The two independent candidates who filed recently, both have strong Democrat ties, Kyle Bruce and Deb Sneddon. The other independent candidate, Tyler Foulkes, was recently appointed by the Republican party to be Celina City treasurer.

Mercer County Democrat Chair Sophia Rodriguez is running to become the City Council President and is facing off with Republican incumbent Jason King.

Bill Sell, after a short run on the Celina Schools BOE, looks to rejoin the Celina City Council facing off a against newcomer Steve Schulte in Ward 1.

Kyle Bruce, one of the organizers of the Celina Small Town Pride and owner of The Bay – Pullman Bay Restaurant, will again try to win a council seat and will take on incumbent Republican Eric Clausen in Ward 4.

Two newcomers are vying for the Ward 3 seat, Republican Chris Dosek and Democrat Erica Lusk.

Currently every Celina City office is held by a Republican.
