Bryan Bodine

Bryan passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. He was born on January 22, 1990, in Bellefontaine to Darrell Bodine and Veronica (Szczerba) Bodine, both who survive in Mt. Victory. On September 9, 2016, he married Ashley Phillips, and she survives in Kenton.

Also surviving are 2 daughters, Myla Bodine and Peyton Bailey, paternal grandmother, Vonna Chamberlain Miller of Mt. Victory, a sister, Maranda (Bobby) Gibson of Mt. Victory, a nephew, Bentley Laser, and mother-in-law, Marsha Phillips.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Valentina Szczerba, paternal grandfather, Marion Chamberlain, paternal great-grandparents, Wilmer and Betty Bodine, a niece, Kaylin Pratt, and father-in-law, Randy Phillips.

After graduating from the Rhoades State Police Academy, Bryan began his law enforcement career with Ohio Health. He continued his service with the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, where he dedicated 12 years to protecting and serving his community. Throughout his tenure, Bryan served with distinction in multiple roles—beginning as a Special Deputy, then advancing to Road Deputy, K9 Handler, and ultimately Detective, specializing in narcotics investigations. His expertise, unwavering dedication, and deep passion for law enforcement earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the broader law enforcement family.

When Bryan wasn’t kicking up pursuits or kicking in doors, he could often be found enjoying the outdoors. He had a deep appreciation for nature and loved anything that allowed him to be outside. But if you ventured out with him, it was best to wrap things up before nightfall, or you might find yourself a little lost on the way back from the woods. Those who knew Bryan knew that after work, he could almost always be found at the gym. His commitment to fitness was unwavering and served as an inspiration to those around him. Above all, Bryan was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Myla and Peyton. He loved them with every fiber of his being and took immense pride in the young women they are becoming.

Bryan was cherished by so many, and his loss leaves an irreplaceable void in our hearts. Until we meet again…

Memorial donations in Bryan’s honor may be made to the Hardin County Sheriff’s Volunteer In Police Service. Please put Bryan’s name in the memo line of the check.
