(6-20-25) Darke County Center for the Arts is once again bringing Missoula Children’s Theatre to Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall for a week-long residency culminating in two performances of The Jungle Book starring local youngsters on Saturday, July 19. Auditions will be held on Monday, July 14 from 10 a.m. till noon; kindergarten through twelfth grade students are invited to tryout. Rehearsals will begin immediately following auditions and continue throughout the week. No advance preparation is necessary, but those auditioning should plan their schedules to allow attendance at daily rehearsals from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout the following week.
DCCA has been bringing MCT teams to our community for over two decades offering students the opportunity to participate in a full-blown musical production. Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions arrive with everything needed to present a play except the cast. Up to 60 local youngsters will be cast in The Jungle Book, and rehearse during the week in preparation for the Saturdayperformances at 3 p.m.and 7 p.m.
MCT’s adaptation of the beloved book by Rudyard Kipling tale joins Mowgli the man-cub in many adventures; original music and rollicking humor give new life to this classic tale. The Missoula Children’s Theatre team of actors/directors in charge of the local production of The Jungle Book are C. Alex Webster and Pablo Fulbrook; Alex is a graduate of Texas Tech University with an MFA in theatre performance and pedagogy as well as having graduated from Brevard College with a BA in theatre. Pablo was born in London, England, but raised in North Carolina, and graduated from Western Carolina University with a BFA in musical theatre.
The residency by Missoula Children’s Theatre is made possible by a grant from Darke County Endowment for the Arts. DCCA also receives funding from local businesses, foundations, and the Ohio Arts Council, and is supported by membership donations.
Contact DCCA at 937-547-0908 or www.DarkeCountyArts.org for further details regarding the production or to reserve tickets for the 3 p.m. or 7 p.m. Saturday performance of The Jungle Book; tickets to the show cost $5.
