(5-25-25) Today the Celina Police arrested Shad Fields (53) on a 5th degree felony charge of possession of drugs and a 1st degree misdemeanor of driving while under the influence of alcohol and or drugs.
What constitutes a 5th-degree felony for drug possession in Ohio?
- Possession of less than the bulk amount of Schedule III, IV, or V drugs, with a prior drug conviction.
- Possession of certain quantities of specific drugs, like less than 5 grams of cocaine, 200-999 grams of marijuana, less than 10 doses of LSD, or less than 1 gram of heroin or fentanyl.
- Possession of any Schedule I or II substance (excluding marijuana), is a felony, including a fifth-degree felony if it’s a small amount.
Penalties and Consequences
- Prison Time: 6 to 12 months.
- Fine: Up to $2,500.
- Community Control (Probation): Up to 5 years.

Fields is being held with no bond and is awaiting court hearings in Celina Municipal Court and Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
