(5-22-25) House Republicans passed their multitrillion-dollar tax breaks package, dubbed the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

The bill passed the chamber by a single vote, 215-214, with Democrats unanimously opposing and only two Republicans voting against. One of those voting against the bill was Ohio’s US Rep (Ohio’s 8th District) Warren Davidson.

Also voting ‘no’ was Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie (Republican), of Kentucky’s 4th District. Rep. Andy Harris of Maryland (chairman of the ultra-conservative House Freedom Caucus) voted present, which would have effectively been an opposition vote if the rest of the lawmakers had tied. Reps. David Schweikert of Arizona and Andrew Garbarino of New York missed the vote.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., told reporters after the vote that there should have been 217 GOP votes for the bill. Garbarino “fell asleep in the back” after the all-night session and inadvertently missed the vote and Schweikert slipped his electronic voting card into place after the vote had ended.

The bill now heads to the senate.
