Robert Burns

(5-17-25) Robert Burns (24) of Van Wert was arrested on a 2nd degree felony charge of felonious assault and is being held in the Van Wert County Corrections Facility.

In Ohio, felonious assault is typically classified as a second-degree felony. The potential penalties for a second-degree felony include a prison term of 2 to 8 years, a fine not exceeding $15,000, and a community control sanction (probation) for up to 5 years

Van Wert Police Department, received a 911 call at around 2:15 a.m. Saturday to the 300 block of South Wayne Street, where they found a male victim (name not released) with stab wounds. Police Officers began performing first aid until EMS arrived and transported the victim to OhioHealth. The victim was later flown to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for further treatment.

Burns is scheduled to make his initial court appearance on the charge Monday, May 19th.
