- Mercer County Fairgrounds Rescinds Rental Agreement ‘Come, Let’s Reason Together’
- “Come, Let’s Reason Together” Conference
The conference was first scheduled to be held at the Mercer County Fairgrounds, but days after the event was was sent to media publications issues arrived. The Fairgrounds sent out a statement saying that they had rescinded the event in a press release-
The event was initially presented to be a pastoral conference and has evolved into a highly controversial demonstration, which is not what was discussed.
Shortly after that release
…the Fairgrounds walked-back their release and said that was not the reason for the contract being rescinded and that the group had not misrepresented the event. That the event contract had been cancelled because of safety and security concerns.
Since that happened the group will now hold the convention at the Aletheia Christian Church located in rural Celina.
During the past several days concerns and rumors about security have been discussed in the community.
In an email reply to the Outlook…Spokesperson Shawn Meyer gave us details on this issue-
“The Pastors Action Coalition takes the safety of every conference participant seriously. We have a professional security plan in place that will be carried out by a trained and experienced security team.”
The convention and the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department were unable to come to an arrangement of a security agreement between the two groups.
In a response to the Outlook request Mercer County Sheriff Doug Timmerman said-
The Sheriff’s Office was contacted to provide extra duty for the event. The Sheriff’s Office is not required to provide security for private events. This was discussed with Pastor Meyer and he respected the decision that was made.
