Keynote Speakers Include Dr. Amy Acton and Dr. Bryan Hambley

CELINA, OH – The Mercer County Democratic Party is proud to host the 2025 Spring Equality Dinner on Thursday, April 24th, at the Celina Eagles (1400 E. Market St., Celina, OH). Doors will open at 5:30 PM, and the program begins at 6:00 PM, welcoming guests to an evening of inspiration, networking, and exciting conversation.

This year’s event will feature Dr. Amy Acton, candidate for Ohio Governor, and Dr. Bryan Hambley, candidate for Ohio Secretary of State, as keynote speakers. In addition, local candidates for Celina City Council will share their vision for the community.

Dr. Amy Acton is a physician and public health leader with over 35 years of experience in preventive and global health. She gained national recognition as Ohio’s Health Director during the early COVID-19 pandemic, earning the JFK Library’s Profile in COVID Courage Award. A passionate advocate for community well-being, she founded a nonprofit supporting RAPID 5, a movement connecting central Ohioans to nature through parks and waterways. Her recent work includes the award-winning WKYC series The Loneliness Epidemic and PBS’s The Invisible Shield. Dr. Acton lives in Bexley, Ohio, with her husband, Eric, and their dog, Winnie.

Dr. Bryan Hambley is a cancer physician, community organizer, and father of two, shaped by a childhood in a small-town Ohio community that stood up to save its local school. Inspired by that early lesson in grassroots democracy, Bryan has spent his life fighting for what’s right—from organizing against pharmaceutical influence in hospitals to expanding access to healthcare and protecting voting rights. As a leukemia doctor, he’s witnessed firsthand how broken healthcare and government systems hurt Ohio families. Now, he’s running for Secretary of State to fix a rigged system and ensure a fair, responsive democracy for all Ohioans.

In addition to engaging speeches, attendees can look forward to several fun and interactive activities, including:Dessert Dash – Bid on delicious cheesecakes, with the highest-bidding table getting first pick!

Silent Auction – A selection of unique and valuable items will be available for bidding.

Charity Chooser – Guests can direct proceeds toward the causes that matter most to them.
