What: Students at Coldwater Exempted Village Schools identified as needing corrective eyewear following a comprehensive eye exam from iSee Ohio, the Ohio Optometric Foundation, will receive free eyeglasses during an In-School Eye Exam dispensing day.
When: Friday, April 4 at 12:30 p.m.
Where: Coldwater Elementary, 310 North Second Street, Coldwater, OH 45828
Who: Students will receive free eyeglasses from local optometrist Dr. Lauren Grillot, Inspired Eyes. All students received a comprehensive eye exam from Dr. Grillot in March.
Background: According to surveys from the Ohio Department of Health, nearly 35,000 Ohio students who do not pass school-based vision screenings are not receiving recommended follow-up care with an eye doctor. iSee Ohio’s clinics and dispensing days bridge that gap by bringing eye examinations and eyewear directly to the schools.
The services, equipment and custom eyewear for students are donated. Doctors and staff volunteer their time to provide the exams and follow-up care.
Dr. Shane Foster, Board President of iSee Ohio
“Children can’t learn if they can’t see. As optometrists, it’s our responsibility to ensure that every Ohio child has access to the vision care they need and deserve, paving the way for a healthier, more productive future for generations to come.”
