(3-11-25) Yesterday the Jay County Commissioners voted unanimously to fire Jay Emergency Medical Service’s Director John R. McFarland of Portland, during a short special session. 

Commissioners held an executive session Monday afternoon (4:30pm) to discuss McFarland’s alleged conduct after he was arrested last week. After the executive session had ended …commissioners pointed out the Jay County’s employee personnel policy.

Commissioners said McFarland violated multiple personnel policies in Group III, offenses in this category are subject to any appropriate discipline up to termination. 

Commercial Review: JEMS director terminated

His termination is effective immediately.

After his arrest on Thursday McFarland was released from the Jay County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
