
(3-7-25) Last night Yusef Abdulrahman of Van Wert was arrested following a shooting incident.
In a call to the Van Wert Police at 7pm a report of a male suspect firing a gun from a vehicle in the area of West Second and Monroe streets. No injuries or property damage were found.
A witness of the shooting provided a description of both the shooter and the vehicle (a Chrysler 300), leading police to locate both of them at a home on Sycamore Street.
Abdulrahman was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday after evidence at the scene and his residence indicated his alleged involvement.
He has been charged with:
- felony charge of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- misdemeanor charges of — aggravated menacing and inducing panic.
He was taken to the Van Wert County Correctional Facility, where he is awaiting arraignment.
