(3-7-25) Charges were filed against the Adams Central Community Schools Superintendent Joel Mahaffey (49) last Thursday, after he was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was returning from a school conference in Indianapolis.

 Joel Mahaffey faces charges of; 

  • Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated Endangering a Person
  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated
  • Operating Vehicle with alcohol concentration equivalent to at least .08 but less than .15
  • Disregarding a stop sign

Mahaffey was arrested by Markle police on Feb. 27 for reports his blood tested positive for alcohol with a result of 0.116, the legal limit is 0.08.

Mahaffey was initially pulled over for failing to completely stop at a posted stop sign off of an I-69 exit ramp.

Mahaffey also began speeding after he turned off the exit ramp.

Police say that Mahaffey made several remarks about the arrest affecting his career, stating at one point that –

“I have just ruined my f**king career.

Officials with Adams Central Community Schools announced that the board will once again meet in a private, executive session to discuss personnel matters at 8:30 a.m. on March 11th.
