(3-1-25) On February 28, 2025 at approximately 8:04p.m. Darke County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Arcanum Police, Fire, and Rescue responded to the intersection of State Route 49 and Alternate State Route 49 North in reference to a two vehicle crash with injury.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a Black 2017 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by April Thurston (43), of Albany, Indiana, was traveling Southeast on State Route 49. An unknown, dark colored vehicle, was traveling Southeast on State Route 49 behind Ms. Thurston. The unknown vehicle struck the rear end of Ms. Thurston, and left the scene of the crash.

Ms. Thurston and her passenger, Christina Devoe (45), of Hartford City, Indiana, were transported to Wayne Healthcare to be treated for minor injuries.

Anyone who may have information regarding the vehicle that left the scene is encouraged to contact the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

This crash remains under investigation.
