(2-13-25) Fort Wayne police responded to the 1200 block of Fayette Drive on Monday night around 7:55 p.m. for reports of shots being fired.
A teenage girl, Sincere Sole Thomas (17) is dead, and another teen Jamir T. Benson (16) is in custody after the shooting.
A witness said he went with Thomas to meet Benson, who was supposed to give her a gun in exchange for some shoes. The girl asked the witness to come with her because she felt like it might be a setup.
The witness said that once Benson took the shoes, he shot the girl and took off running with another person.
The coroner ruled that Thomas’ cause of death was a gunshot wound to the torso and her manner of death was labeled a homicide.
Benson has been charged with murder and robbery and is being charged as an adult . Benson is being held at the Allen County Jail without bond.
