CELINA, OH [Jan 27, 2025]—In a video released today, Keith Faber (R-Celina) announced his candidacy to be Ohio’s next Attorney General. In it, he pledged to protect Ohio families and defend our Constitution. Faber said his Attorney General’s office will focus on public safety and will actively support Ohio police and prosecutors.

Faber is presently Ohio’s State Auditor. Current AG Dave Yost recently announced he will running to be Ohio’s next Governor.

Since 2019, Faber has led the Ohio Auditor of State’s law enforcement team, where he spearheaded investigations that have resulted in numerous criminal charges against public officials. Those cases have led to 129 convictions on 247 separate criminal charges, ranging from a corrupt county sheriff to a county official who stole roughly $1.8 million.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Faber’s team discovered approximately $6.9 billion in fraud and overpayments within Ohio’s unemployment compensation system.

Faber led the nation in identifying the issue and helping put controls in place to slow the theft of tax dollars. The discovery led to dramatic restructuring of the mechanisms to oversee those payments.

Keith’s team has performed investigations that have led to 229 findings to recover taxpayer funds against public officials whose activities were illegal or impermissible under Ohio law.

The audits, criminal investigations, and convictions by Faber’s team have resulted in $20,696,439 in findings for recovery.

Between 2019 and 2004, Faber has inspected $241.8 billion passed through 2,101 federal programs administered by the State of Ohio. He and his team issued 173 findings after discovering $5,257,750 in questionable spending,

Faber was Ohio’s 33rd Auditor of State and served 18 years in the state legislature, including time as President of the Ohio Senate.
