(1-11-25) According to a news release from the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol a two-vehicle crash happened Saturday afternoon at approximately 12:09 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Route 224 and Van Wert Decatur Road in Van Wert County.

Adam Schulte (46) of Kettering, was traveling westbound on U.S. Route 224 when he attempted to turn left onto Van Wert Decatur Road and pulled into the path of Marcus Mudd (53) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, who was traveling eastbound in a box truck. When Mudd struck Schulte’s vehicle it was pushed off the north side of U.S. Route 224.

Schulte was taken by medical helicopter to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana with suspected serious injuries and Mudd was transported to OhioHealth Van Wert Hospital with suspected minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Highway Patrol was assisted by the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office, the Van Wert Police, fire and EMS departments, Samaritan Air Ambulance, the Ohio Department of Transportation — Van Wert Garage, the Van Wert County Engineer’s Office, Pleasant Township trustees, Hague Towing and Repair and Superior Collision.
