(1-8-25) On January 7, 2025, at 8:31 P.M., deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to a resident in the 8,000 block of State Route 47 on a report of a missing/runaway juvenile.

Information gathered from responding units revealed that the child left the residence through a window, with the father giving chase but losing sight of the child. The father contacted the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office at this time.

Braiden Barnes

During the search, it was discovered that, Braiden Barnes (17), suffers from autism. A search of the area was conducted with the assistance from the Ohio State Patrol, Sidney Police Department, Sidney Fire Department, Anna Police Department, Fort Loramie EMS, BCI, and the Ohio State Patrol Air Unit. Multiple K9 teams were also used in the search. An endangered child alert was issued for Shelby County and surrounding counties.

At approximately 7:29 A.M., the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office was notified that the Tipp City Police Department located the Barnes in their jurisdiction. The investigation is ongoing.
