Columbus, OH (12-3-24) –After new reporting revealed that Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth’s history of sexual misconduct allegations continues to grow, Ohio Senator-Elect Bernie Moreno is hoping Ohioans forget he expressed support for all of Trump’s cabinet picks- even those with a deeply disturbing personal history. 

In addition to previous allegations of sexual assault, new reporting revealed Hegseth was forced to step down from nonprofit groups he ran due to extensive reports of sexual misconduct and financial mismanagement.

Meanwhile, Bernie Moreno called Hegseth “exactly the type of leader we need at the Pentagon.” When asked about his support as Hegseth continued to face credible accusations of sexual assault, he said “we don’t live in a country where allegations mean anything more than gossip,”

“Moreno’s support for a nominee with a history of sexual assault allegations proves that he’s focused on political obedience instead of helping Ohioans. Ohioans deserve a senator who takes the responsibility to advise on cabinet picks seriously, but it’s clear Moreno would rather rubber stamp Trump’s nominees.”
