(10-29-24) At last night’s Celina City Council meeting Council voted 4-2 against the 3rd reading of an ordinance rezoning land on Industrial Drive that would have been used for an urgent care clinic from the Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health.

After discussion during the meeting concerning possible deed restrictions on the site…the 3rd reading of the ordinance was conducted. Voting no were councilmen Eric Clausen, Myron Buxton, Joe Wolfe and Thomas Sanford. Mark Fleck abstained. Matt Gray and Eric Baltzell voted to proceed. All of the council members are Republican, Fleck had been a Democrat before changing parties just a year ago.

After the meeting Michael Johnson, the senior development manager for Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health talked to WCSM.

‘We were caught off guard after the last (council) meeting that language had been introduced before council. Typically our experience agreements between two private entitys are not germaine to zoning.”

Johnson said that they will now discuss the situation with JES Foods at this time.
