(10-21-24) The Ohio State Patrol was called to the scene of a three vehicle crash.at around 10:56 a.m. Monday morning. The Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office said that U.S. Route 127 near Hickory Stick Golf and was closed south of Van Wert. of a crash on U.S. Route 127 near Hickory Stick Golf.

The Ohio State Patrol says Zachery Wood (30) of Convoy, Ohio was driving a compact car going South on 127 when he stopped to turn left into a private drive when Timothy Kiester driving a 2016 Chevy Silverado crashed into the back of Wood.

This sent Wood’s car into the northbound lane of 127 where a semi crashed into him.

Wood and his passenger, Logan Elder (29) of Van Wert, were both pronounced dead at the scene by the Van Wert County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the semi Christopher Poland was also taken to the hospital with injuries from the crash.

Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Van Wert County Sheriff, Ohio City Fire and EMS, and Van Wert Fire and EMS.
