With recent contributions, Justices Donnelly, Stewart, and Judge Forbes out-raise right-wing opponents for third reporting period in a row
COLUMBUS, Ohio (10-7-24) – The Ohio Democratic Party has invested an additional $375,000 directly in the Ohio Supreme Court campaigns, announcing new $125,000 contributions earlier this week to the campaigns of Justice Michael Donnelly, Justice Melody Stewart, and Judge Lisa Forbes. With these additional contributions, Donnelly, Stewart, and Forbes have now outraised their right-wing opponents for the third month in a row.
Ohio Democratic Party Spokesperson Katie Seewer
“The Ohio Democratic Party is proud to support Justices Donnelly, Stewart, and Judge Forbes. We need an Ohio Supreme Court majority that believes in protecting our rights and upholding the constitution – these three judges have spent their careers doing just that. Whether it’s reproductive rights, democracy, or public safety, the court will make decisions that impact the lives of every Ohioan. Right-wing politicians like Megan Shanahan, Joe Deters, and Dan Hawkins won’t look out for our rights, they’ll tilt the scales in their favor and rubber stamp an extreme agenda that hurts our state.”
This year the Ohio Democratic Party has made record investments in the state Supreme Court Race.
Fundraising totals including recent investments by the Ohio Democratic Party:
Justice Michael Donnelly: $265,877 Raised
Megan Shanahan: $190,100 Raised
Justice Melody Stewart: $287,521 Raised
Joe Deters: $258,748 Raised
Judge Lisa Forbes: $258,626 Raised
Dan Hawkins: $195,250 Raised
September finance reports were due to the Ohio Secretary of State yesterday. While reports must include any contributions received during the month of September, Shanahan, Deters, and Hawkins included $85,000 in contributions from the Ohio Republican Party which were made in early October.
