(10-7-24) The speaker for the October 1 meeting of the Coldwater Kiwanis Club was Father Ethan Moore, newly appointed parochial vicar for the Holy Cross Family of Parishes in Mercer County.

Father Ethan Moore

Father Moore was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Later his family moved to McCartyville, in Shelby County. He graduated from Lehman Catholic High School. He was a junior in high school when 9-11 occurred, and that event had a profound effect on him. He said he wanted to be in a career to help people.

After high school he started in a nursing program and later switched to religion and theology. After college, he served as a youth minister and taught religious education. Then he entered seminary and was ordained a priest in 2015.

Since his ordination he has had assignments at several churches, led campus ministry programs and was the chaplain at Wright State.
