(10-4-24) Timothy Schroer (47) of Wapakoneta pleaded guilty today during his hearing in the Auglaize County Common Pleas Court to a third-degree felony charge of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, the victim was 15.

Schroer’s bond was continued and he will continue to be out of jail on an own recognizance bond. The next step is a pre-sentence investigation…a sentencing date has not yet been set yet.
Schroer will now be considered a tier-two sex offender and must update his information with law enforcement every 180 days for the next 25 years and is not to use any social media apps or web sites.

Individuals under Tier 2 are not subject to community notification requirements. The types of convictions that fall under a Tier 2 classification include: Compelling Prostitution. Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor. Illegal Use of a Minor in Nudity-oriented Material or Performance.
During the hearing it was discovered that Schroer met his 15 year old victim via a app called Sniffies
Sniffies is a map-based hookup web app for gay, bisexual, and bicurious men. The website features a map that shows the approximate locations of nearby users who are currently active or have recently been active on the platform. The map also shows the locations of groups and popular meeting places in the user’s area.
