(9-20-24) A 4-year old Portland boy suffered injuries on the left side of his body as a result of the incident in the Jay County Christian Academy parking lot.

His 16 year old sister had just dropped off her brother at the school.

The Jay County Sheriff ’s Office says the sister had pulled up to the curb and her brother got out of the vehicle and walked toward the school before he decided to return to the vehicle. His sister did not realize that her brother had decided to return to the vehicle. When she started to drive away that is when the rear passenger side tire of the vehicle drove over the boy.

The brother was transported to the IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie to check for internal injuries. At the scene the brother complained of pain in his left arm and abdominal area.
