(9-4-24) Yesterday John Brown (59) of Rockford was charged with driving under the influence by Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputies after a crash Tuesday at the intersection of State Route 49 and Strable Road.

Around 4 pm, Brown allededly pulled out in front of a van after running a stop sign and was struck. The driver of the van sustained minor injuries and was taken to Mercer Health for treatment. Brown was taken to the Mercer County Adult Detention Center on a charge of driving under the influence.

Brown refused a sobriety test and was released. Today he was arraigned in Celina Municipal Court, his next court date is on September 6th. Brown faces charges including DUI, refusal for the test and a stop sign violation.
