Tuesday August 20 Day update

I wish I could have better news. Not Cales day, nor mine! He battled w O2 all day sugar, bp, and lung issues. I hardly left his bed all day. That helplessness really kicked in today. I was angry most of the day. Just wanted nothing to do with anyone. Wanted to wheel that bed out of here and just go back in time a week. We pushed through it and after a long ass day got his levels back up in time for the coaches to visit before him and I were wore the hell out. Well at least I was, I cant speak for him. The walls are caving in on me in here but thank God for some fabulous nurses! Allyssa is always my number one rockstar, followed up by my night nurse Bri. I feel comfortable breaking down. They know were running out of time. His poor body cant take to many more rollercoasters. Its just to all over the place in maintaining. None of us know why other the brain just has no clue of what to do right now. That comes w a traumatic brain stem injury and his hemorrhage Friday night made everything 100 times worse. I lost a little faith today asking why? All day, why Cale, why me, just getting more angrier by the minute, esp when you see some of the people that come in here. I try not to judge but when your 17 yr old healthy boy is going through what he is going through it makes ya wanna throat punch some of the others that think they have it so bad. Just saying, sorry, not sorry! I dont sugar coat anything. But hes still fighting, if he can i can! Im a little nervous about tomorrow morning team update, almost feel my throat swelling right now. I pray he rests and keeps those levels at bay for the night. I just want more time for a miracle! Bad days come, bad days go. We need a good one like no other. Im wore out and need to find a little sleep if it exists. Tomorrow is a new day. Gimmie a win Cale, mammas begging now💙💙❤️❤️ Only plus for the day is that I can get his BP back up quickly by digging into the sides of his feet. I dont even know if its me but it works! Thank you for all your continued support! Prayers to all of you praying for us. I didnt do much of that today😔 I felt defeated. Love to you all, tomorrow will be a better day, I cant feel it but I can hope for it ❤️❤️💙💙🙏🙏

Saturday August 17th from Jessica Baumer

Sorry it took so long for an update! Its been the craziest day yet to date! We had a bad night as you all know. So I was already very up in arms about the care and if they weined him right . I was kinda lied to about the agressiveness. They told me they would do a very gradual one and somehow excluded to tell me they changed their minds. Well his HR and HB that went into a frenzy turned into what i thought (who wouldnt) a severe detox. No one told me differently until i threatened transfer this morning. So at this point Im already pissed that i was lied to about the sedation wein and with no answers on what happen to make him about stroke out. After all kinds of pull to get a transfer from some high ranking officials in Ohio putting him top priority we suddenly were stopped. After their trauma team said they honestly don’t think they could do anything because of the damage that occur, but they would see once what Cale is capbable if soon for further stay down the road. But they would have to put him through a lot and they dont think hes stable enough to handle at this point. So we put that on the back side and asked nation wide for a transfer and their opinion(still being sent). I contacted my lawyer and all kinds of people on Cales outside team working for him including a well know surgeon from up north, he kinda humbled me. There is so much more than one can say that went on from the hours starting last night all the way up to current. But in between all this Cale decided to have a spat w hi O2 while Im trying to get him somewhere else. Paused for that, then back at the lawyer and future standings w the ethics comittee. After all that was tended too, Cale decided that he no longer wanted to be battling his O2 and shot it up in no time(which is great) but what the heck Cale. Im begging mercy for you so please come out swinging full speed ahead w all that you can. I really thought he was giving up today. Then all of a sudden, after a full day of me working non stop on phone calls, state reps, finding out what my rights are, in crunch time too, he decides to start showing some fight again. I really truly think if he was left alone only to be re positioned, cleaned, not bugged and rested would be great for a couple days, but thats an ideal world. He has way to much against him right now. We are awaiting our review at Nationwide, but i dont have high hopes, nor do I know if i want that transfer at the moment because of his down ward spiral that set him back. It might not be the best idea depending how Cales night goes tonight and whether they will take him. I did meet w just about everyone here at Miami Valley expressing why I am seeking so many 2nd opinions. Clarification and communication is not well here. Thats another long story. We are still here, Cale is still hanging on and I do not know what to do at current. He did fail his pupil test and hasnt passed one since. Which doesnt work in his favor. Last night before midnight he had all the things, not so much today. However, im seeing little things that maybe he is now refocussing for a fight. Im just on Cales rollercoaster at this point w no control except advocating for him out here. I had 3 opinions today and will the Nationwides tomorrow. Everything is so grey. There is no black n white w any of this. There are alot of mistakes that have been made that I really cant do much about but they have been recognized by MVH. Mostly lack of communication of whats going on before hand or after which doesnt sit well. Tomorrow we will see where were at. The red tape and state laws suck for healthcare. You cant just do what you think is best for your child, you have to fight for it for every last thing. That is not right period. Long term care is out on the table, that too will be dicussed tomorrow. But most likely turned down by something, which is why my lawyer is on that already. Cale is still fighting tho. Just not sure what battle he’s choosing right now. Im quite certain its the wrong ones. We need massive prayer. We need a miracle. We need better healthcare. We need better laws that help give the parents more rights for their children!! Tomorrow is a new day, hell im just trying to get there for ya never know what the night brings. We are still at MVH awaiting a miracle for Cale! Hes not gave up yet!!! I have not gave up, no one is giving up, its just this fight is a mighty one and needs Gods divine intervention!!! I have looked and read alot of your help for OSU today. All of you w the help of a lawyer and state reps helped today! They dint go unnoticed. Sometimes i just cant get to them at all or I am already on the number you sent me. I need to refocus for another crazy day. I didnt even know what day it was until I was reminded its the weekend. Def not as easy either to get swift help. But where is. I had so many irons in the fire and still do, that who knows where we will be or what Cale decides to do. You guys were rockstars today w all your help w OSU and other hospitals. You all kicked it in gear like he is your own. Thats a special feeling to me! What i need now is the hard work of powerful prayer for us while i continue to push forward for Cale. Please kick his ass in gear somehow. I do think hes losing his smoke and guns! He needs to reload! I hope this helps explain why half of you, i stopped communication with because i either had my answer or moved along. Cale didnt make it easy either. Pray for a good night and a new day w new life! Love you all!

And special thanks to my huge support system staying here w us round the clock helping in any way they can. Even if its filling my water at times ,making a phone call, or running errands. It all helps in this time of need and uncertainty! Prayers for all of you as well! 💙💙💙❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏

They are still figuring out the “sweet spot” with keeping his cranial pressure down while other vitals stabled therefore they are putting him into a medically induced coma to relax his brain, and hopefully help with decreasing the swelling. This will be his state for 3-5 days.

Anything physical you want to send to cale and his family, send it to coldwater high school, and they will organize things and get it delivered to the family at an appropriate time. Keep those prayers coming, this boy needs all of them. He’s fighting
