
(7-28-24) Yvonne Miller, representing the Alzheimer’s Association of Grand Lake Mercer & Auglaize Counties, was the club’s July speaker. Miller gave an extensive presentation about the progression and the effects of Alzheimer’s. She also passed out information about the Grand Lake Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, September 14 at the WSU-Lake Campus. The Kiwanis Club of Celina kicked off the summer with their successful chicken dinner in June. Their busy summer continued with the Lake Festival stand. In August the club will sponsor the Mr. Potato Head contest at the county fair.
Karen Perts is completing the paperwork to apply for a Walmart grant to buy coats for the club’s fall coat drive. They also plan to raffle off a quilt as a fundraiser later in the year. The members donated $100 to each of these organizations: Lots for Soldiers, Celina High School’s FBLA, Assure Suicide Prevention and Awareness Walk.
Dale Hart will represent the club as a delegate at the Ohio Kiwanis State Convention. To raise its profile, the Celina Kiwanis recently joined the Celina-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce.
