(7-4-24) On Saturday, June 22nd, 2024, at approximately 9:07 PM, the Union City Police Department conducted a traffic stop that led to the arrest of Richard L. Armfield.

While patrolling near E. Lower Street and N. Stateline Street, officers observed a black Dodge SUV traveling at a high rate of speed Northbound on N. Stateline Street. After pacing the vehicle and confirming it was going 51 MPH in a 30 MPH zone.

During the stop, Armfield was unable to provide a valid driver’s license. Further investigation revealed that Armfield is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms. A subsequent search, including a K9 sniff, resulted in the discovery of a .25 caliber firearm in the vehicle, confirmed to be unlawfully possessed.

As a result, Armfield was placed under arrest for possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. Citations were issued for speeding and driving without a valid operator’s license. Armfield was subsequently transported to Randolph County Jail for processing
