The State Senate still needs to pass the bill and that most likely won’t take place until November due to the summer recess for state legislatures.

The bill that was passed would require K-12 and college students at public and charter schools in Ohio to use bathrooms and locker rooms that match their sex at birth. It also prohibits schools from letting students share overnight accommodations with the opposite biological sex.

The ban is for multi-occupancy facilities, meaning schools can still offer single-use or family restrooms. It doesn’t apply to school employees whose jobs require bathroom access, emergency situations or people assisting young children or someone with a disability.
