Wapakoneta (6-30-24)— The results revealed 192 vehicles were checked driving through the OVI checkpoint conducted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol Post in Wapakoneta, Auglaize County Sheriffs Office, and the Wapakoneta Police Department on Friday, June 28, 2024. The checkpoint occurred on CR 25A north of Wapakoneta. There were two vehicles diverted for further assessment of the driver. Of the diverted vehicles one driver was arrested for OVI. 

The OVI checkpoints are funded by federal grant funds and are planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers. 

The checkpoint was held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to combat impaired driver-related injury and fatal crashes. 

If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver, or make other travel arrangements before you drink.
