(6-20-24) Yesterday at 1:47pm Van Wert County Sheriff Deputies along with Scott Fire & EMS responded to an area of Elm Sugar Road in Union Township for a report of a motor vehicle crash.
Brian Austin Gore (34) of Fort Wayne Indiana was west bound on Elm Sugar Road. A Paulding County 16- year old was south bound on Liberty Union Road. Gore failed to the yield right of way at the stop sign to the teen, who had no traffic control device. Gore applied the brakes causing skid marks on the roadway and then struck the teen on its right-side trailer in the middle of the intersection. The teen had to be pulled out from under the truck. Gore was driving a 2022 Peterbilt Semi pulling a trailer, the teen was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Impala driven.
Gore was issued a traffic citation for Failure to Stop at a stop sign.
