(6-19-24) Auglaize County first responders came to the aid of passengers who were stranded on a Greyhound bus that broke down this past Father’s Day on I-75 just south of Wapakoneta.
The Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office was notified about the bus that was disabled along the northbound lanes of 75, which left it without air conditioning on a day with temperatures well into the 80’s.
Deputies discovered that the bus was fully loaded and passengers were outside of the bus attempting to stay cool.
The Wapakoneta Fire Department was dispatched to the scene and firefighters brought bottled water and extra vehicles to give passengers access to air conditioning.
They also addressed multiple health concerns among the passengers, some of them preexisting.
A school bus from Wapakoneta City Schools was requested to the scene and the passengers were transported to St. Joseph Parish Life Center to keep cool.
Also assisting at the scene were Miller Auto and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
