(5-13-24) The Rockford American Legion Post Post 508 will be holding our annual Memorial Day Services, Monday, May 27.   The public is invited to our Military services at the Riverside Cemetery at 10 am honoring all fallen veterans.  The Memorial Day parade will begin at approximately 11 am (When the Parkway Marching Band arrives!) beginning at the Fire Station and traveling north on Main street to the service at Hedges Veteran Park.  All veterans are invited to participate in the parade; there will be golf carts available if you prefer to ride.

Our featured speakers will be Rockford Mayor Ron Searight and the 2023 Carey, Bill, and Benny scholarship recipient, Macy Johnson. Dana Smith from The Rockford Belle Community Church will be offering the prayers.  Post 508 SAL member Mike Heiser will be the MC.

A Military Flyover is scheduled to honor Memorial Day and the Rockford American Legion Post 508’s 100th anniversary.

All area veterans (please feel free to wear your military uniform if you still have it) and Post 508 members are invited to join us at both or either service.

The Rockford American Legion and Sons will be holding our annual  barbecue chicken dinner fundraiser.  The cost will be $10 – Tickets are pre-sale only and are available at the Rockford American Legion and The Rockford Carryout.  The Chicken dinners are provided by the Rockford Carryout and will be available for pickup behind the Rockford American Legion Hall immediately following the ceremony.
