(4-17-24) At 7:13 p.m. on Sunday Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies and medics responded to reports of a motorcycle crash.
Lee Andrew Watson (31) of Anna, was riding a black Kawasaki motorcycle with two other cyclists and was traveling southbound on County Road 25A near the Interstate 75 southbound on-ramp. A white Ram Amazon delivery van driven by Bryce James Swafford (23) of Dayton, was traveling northbound on County Road 25A when he attempted to turn left onto the Interstate 75 southbound on-ramp in front of Watson, causing Watson to run into the middle of the van and was ejected from the motorcycle.

Watson was transported to Wilson Health and then Careflighted to Miami Valley Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Swafford was placed under arrest for suspected operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs and was transported to the Sidney Police Department for further testing.

Lee “AJ” Andrew Watson, Jr., 31, of Anna, OH, formerly of Indian Lake, OH passed away on Sunday evening, April 14, 2024, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, OH due to injuries sustained from a vehicular accident.
AJ was born on July 17, 1992, in Lima, OH, a son of Nicolette (James Jenner) Watson of Lakeview, OH, and Lee Andrew Watson, Sr. of Russells Point, OH. He was preceded in death by his best friend and grandma, Shirley Hudkins.
AJ is survived by his parents, three sisters, Allison (Cody) Baker of Sidney, OH, Sarah (Cameron) Mathews of Sanford, NC, and Leah Watson of Alger, OH, two brothers, Justin Baker and Jordan Baker, both of Sidney, OH, six nieces and nephews, Auriella, Colin, Ezrah, Ryan, Caleb, and Cai, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
AJ was a 2011 graduate of Indian Lake High School and Ohio Hi-Point Career Center where he studied carpentry. He proudly worked at Honda ELP in East Liberty. He loved music, producing and played with his band Remember The Ancient (RTA). He also loved riding his motorcycle and driving his Jeep, that he continuously added modifications to each. He enjoyed playing video games. AJ’s greatest joy was from spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be noon, Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview with visitation from 11-12. Inurnment will be in Huntsville Cemetery at a later date.
