(4-16-24) Jay County High School Social Studies teacher Joel Bowers (36) Portland was placed Thursday on administrative leave following an allegation of misconduct. Bowers is also the chairman of the Jay County Democrat Party.

“allegations of conduct in violation of JSC Policy 3213 Student Supervision and Welfare.

As this matter is under investigation, appropriate information will be communicated to the extent and at such time, as is consistent with the School Corporation’s confidentiality obligations.”

This is the second time that a Jay Schools employee has been placed on administrative leave after an incident.

The Jay County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident and no charges at this time have been filed.
