Next Shanes Crossing Historical Society Meeting
Monday April 15th at 7 P.M, there will be a meeting of the Shanes Crossing Historical Society at the Rockford Village Administration Building. Harrison (Harry) Frech will do a power-point presentation on Native Americans in the Parkway Area, the tribespeople who hunted, traded, planted and settled along the St. Marys River between Mendon and Willshire.
He will briefly discuss the evidence of indigenous people in the area in Prehistoric era but will concentrate on the Historic period from the late 17th century until the Native Americans left the area in the 1830s. Frech has studied the historical records of the local native population, he is not an authority on arrowheads and other artifacts.
