(3-31-24) Zuko, a 5-year-old African penguin at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, is competing in “March of the Penguin Madness”, which features penguins from around the world.

Penguins International, a nonprofit, organized the tournament to encourage people to learn about the different species of penguins on the planet and conservation efforts. African penguins like Zuko are among the endangered species.

Zuko has made it to the third round, now facing off against Pumpkin, a penguin from the Mississippi Aquarium. As of Sunday Zuko is losing in votes to the Mississippi penguin.
There are six total divisions in the tournament. The winner of the competition will be recognized internationally and earn a spot in the “Iceberg Hall of Heroes”.
